The app collects no personal data. There is no account, no registration, no advertising, no tracking and no analytics software. We do not know who plays, and we do not want to. Everything described below concerns the few moments where data touches a third party at all: the purchase through Apple, an e-mail you send us, and the technical operation of this website.
Your progress (solved files, saved boards, notes, rank), your language choice and your settings are stored only on your device. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else. If you use Apple’s device backup or iCloud backup, this data travels inside that backup like any other app data; that is your choice and governed by Apple’s terms and privacy policy. Deleting the app deletes the data.
The full London Casebook is an in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple (Apple Distribution International Ltd., Hollyhill Industrial Estate, Hollyhill, Cork, Ireland, for customers in the EU). Apple processes your payment data; we never see it. The app only checks, on your device, whether a valid purchase exists, so that the files can be unlocked. “Restore purchase” asks Apple’s servers for that same confirmation. Apple’s privacy policy applies to the App Store.
If you write to support@murderandmethod.com, we store your e-mail address and the content of your message in order to answer you. The mailbox is hosted in Germany by INWX GmbH & Co. KG, Berlin, as our processor. We delete the correspondence once your request is settled and no statutory retention duty applies. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (answering your request) and Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in support).
murderandmethod.com is a static website hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA, as our processor. When you open a page, the web server necessarily processes the technical data of your request: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the browser and operating system identifier, and the referring page. These logs serve security and operation; the access logs available to us are kept by Vercel, according to Vercel, for no longer than one day. Vercel also processes technical traffic data in part under its own responsibility, to secure and improve its platform; Vercel’s privacy policy applies to that. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in a secure and working website. Vercel is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and has concluded the EU standard contractual clauses with us for any transfer to the United States.
The website sets no cookies. It remembers your chosen language in your browser’s local storage only, which is strictly necessary for the language switch and never leaves your device. Fonts and all other files are served from our own server; nothing is loaded from Google, social networks or other third parties. There is no analytics, no advertising and no embedded content.
Where we process personal data at all, the legal bases are Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (performance of a contract or of a request you have made, such as support) and Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure operation of the website and in answering support requests).
The only transfer outside the EU is the hosting of this website by Vercel in the United States, covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the EU standard contractual clauses. The app itself transfers nothing.
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection under Art. 15–21 GDPR, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen, Kavalleriestraße 2–4, 40213 Düsseldorf. Since the app stores nothing about you with us, most requests will concern an e-mail you have sent us; write to the address above and we will act on it.
Where we process data on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (the access logs of this website, support correspondence), you may object to that processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. Write to support@murderandmethod.com. We will then no longer process the data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests.
This policy is written in plain language on purpose. If anything in the app or on the website changes in a way that touches personal data, the date at the top changes with it.
